What Is The Scarlet Prediction?
 
A cased deck of blue backed Bicycle cards is placed on the table. Your volunteer freely names any card. (no force / no restrictions) The deck is removed from the box and the freely named card is placed face up on the table. The other 51 playing cards are fairly shown to have blue backs. You can actually deal through the 51 cards showing each one front and back or you can simply spread the deck and show that there really are 51 blue backed playing cards. The freely named playing card is turned over to reveal that it is the only card with a red back.
 
When I started performing restaurant magic back in 1993, I created a version of this trick and it soon became my closing effect for the next 33 years. Every time I have ever been hired to perform close up magic, walk around magic, cocktail magic, etc., this has always been my go-to closer.
 
The plot is easy to understand and the method is 100% self-working. This combination is what makes this such a powerful closing effect. For a lay audience that is watching you like a hawk, there is nothing sneaky to “catch” and simply no way to “backtrack” the method.
 
Until recently the idea of marketing this effect was just not possible. The necessary cards had to be hand-made and each deck would take about a week to construct. I recently found a supplier for the necessary cards and ordered enough to make up 50 decks! I am keeping 10 decks for myself and am selling the remaining 40 decks to my customers only.
 
I am not sure how long I will be able to produce this item as each deck is very time consuming to produce and I do not know how long I will be able to get the necessary cards. For now I have 40 decks made up. If these sell out and you are unable to get one, please contact me and I will consider make up another smaller batch while card supplies last.
