The Effect: The magician approaches an audience member on the left side of the audience and removes a purse from his pocket. It is opened up to reveal a silk handkerchief. The silk is removed and the purse is seen to be completely empty. The empty purse is now given to the first volunteer who is instructed to hold it high above their head. 
 
The magician now has the silk signed by a second volunteer on the right side of the audience. While they are displaying the signed silk to audience, the magician removes a beautiful magic wand from his pocket and proceeds with some silly nonsense and bits of business.
 
The magician takes the signed silk and stuffs into one end of the magic wand. He takes a deep breath, aims the wand at the purse, and then blows on one end. Instead of the signed silk flying out of the magic wand, it completely vanishes into a big cloud of mylar confetti! (The vanish of the silk is extremely visual and quite the surprise!) 
 
For the finale, the magician retrieves the purse from the first volunteer and SLOWLY / FAIRLY opens it up to reveal there is now a silk inside the previously empty purse. The silk is CLEANLY removed from the purse and shown to be the signed silk!
 
This routine can be used at any point in your act. It makes for a great musical opener or it can be a talking routine in the middle of your show.
